MageGuild

Sanctuary MageGuild
One of the many aspects of Ranke that Prince Kadakithus has tried to install in Sanctuary is a MageGuild. All major cities in the Rankan empire have some sort of organization of Mages. On March 16, 1219 the MageGuild of Sanctuary was officially established.
Currently, the MageGuild is small and looked down upon by the more powerful mages, however for younger mages it does have its benefits.

Hazards
Members of the MageGuild are put in levels, or Hazards. As mages advance in hazards, they gain access to more of the resources of the MageGuild.
Apprentices are considered to be of the First Hazard, while the most powerful mages in the land may be of the Tenth Hazard. The head of the Ranke MageGuild has the ranking of Twelfth Hazard.
In game terms, to advance to the next Hazard, a mage must have at least three magic skills at (new Hazard * 10). For example, to advance from first Hazard to Second Hazard, a mage must have at least three magic skills at 20

Skill Benefits
The cost to raise a magic skill is reduced by one. For skills under 10, the cost is 1 XP to raise the skill 2 points.
The cost to raise the magic or magic use attribute is only 5 times that of a skill, instead of 10.
Note: these benefits are good only if the new skill or attribute is ((Hazard + 1) * 10) or lesser. For example, a fourth hazard gains these benefits when raising skills or attributes up to 50, but not past 50.

Other Benefits
Information of magical happenings
A source of reliable spell components and magic items
Connections with other mages in the Rankan Empire

Costs
The costs of joining the Sanctuary MageGuild is one GP (100 SP) a month.
In addition, a mage may be required to perform certain services or pass certain tests to advance to higher Hazards.
